Fall Makeup Trends (Hint: Put Away Your Contouring Kit)
Fall 2015 trends on the runway showcased makeup trends that are a combination of fresh and retro. Put away your contouring kit, pull out the bold lipstick and listen up.
Pink Cheeks: Contouring is so 2014. Obviously contoured faces don’t look good on anyone, unless you’re in a high fashion editorial or a celeb on the red carpet. That obvious shading under the cheekbones looks like you’re trying too hard. So put away your contour kit and think pink. Seen all over the major runway shows, a slight wash of pink on the apples of your cheeks looks fresh and youthful compared to sharp contours.
Rich Lips: Choose reds, berries, or burgundies for your kisser. These dark, vampy tones add a dramatic and sexy touch to your look. Make them matte for true retro style. Just remember, when you wear dark lip color, keep the rest of your makeup minimal, otherwise you risk looking overdone. And with every makeup line from drugstore bargain brands to high-end designer brands doing multiple dark colors, you’ll be sure to find one that suits your skin tone.
Feathery Lashes and Brows: The days of overly dark, groomed brows with laser perfect edges are over. Instead of filling in your brows with an unnaturally dark color, why not try the new feathering technique where you still fill in your brows lightly, then brush them up at the top with a mascara-style brush. This give your brows a wild, “Brooke Shields in Blue Lagoon” look. If you’re not sure, just brush up the top inner corners of your brows for a tamer version. As for your lashes, wild and larger-than-life is the look. To achieve it, use single extensions or false lashes of varying lengths.
